The persistence and vigilance of Rural Flying Squad members strategically deployed along the highways of the province to eradicate drug trafficking once again yielded positive results when they arrested six men suspected to be involved in illicit drug activities.

On Saturday, 14 August 2021 at about 17:20 the team patrolled the N2 highway just outside Knysna where they noticed two men behaving strangely when police approached the hiking spot. The members proceeded with a search of the men when small quantities of Tik were found in their possession. The police confiscated the drugs and arrested the suspects, aged 29 and 33, on a charge of possession of drugs each.

Later same day, the vigilant members operationalised information about drugs being consumed at a business in the Main Street of Knysna when they pounced on the premises. A search of the premises ensued which led to the confiscation of eight bags of dagga. Two men, aged 27 and 33, who were positively linked to the find. They were subsequently arrested on charges of dealing in drugs.

All arrested are expected to appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ court on Monday, 16 August 2021 on mentioned charges.

Furthermore, the team also confiscated 80 Mandrax tablets, 868 gram of dagga and a small quantity of Tik when they arrested two men at a hiking spot on the N9 near George on 10 August 2021. The suspects aged 27 and 29 were later charged for possession of drugs. They already appeared in court on the mentioned charges.
