A multi-disciplinary operation which comprises of various units in the South African Police Service were successfully conducted in Khayelitsha.
On Thursday, 5 August 2021 at about 15:00, armed with intelligence driven information, the team strategically approached two addresses in 55 Section Kuyasa in Khayelitsha.
Upon entering the addresses, they immediately conducted an intensive search. One AK47 rifle and ammunition, a loaded 9mm Norinco pistol, a CZ 9mm Parabellum pistol and an undisclosed amount of ammunition were confiscated.
Two males aged 34 and 29 were arrested and detained as they could not provide a valid licence to be in possession of the mentioned firearms.
Once charged, they are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates ‘Court on Tuesday, 10 August 2021 on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
