14 Suspects arrested for serious crimes, Nyanga

Nyanga police crime fighting efforts to trace and arrest suspects who are involved in criminal activities resulted in the arrest of fourteen suspects.

Five suspects were arrested for the possession of ecstasy, two for attempted murder, two for hijacking, two for the possession of stolen vehicles and the other three were arrested for rape, assault GBH and malicious damage to property and intimidation, which is domestic related.

Three suspects aged 17, 19 and 35 are appearing in court on 18 October 2019, the 17 and 35 year old are appearing in Athlone Magistrate’s Court for the possession of a stolen vehicle and the 19 year old in Wynberg Magistrate’s Court facing a rape charge.

The remaining suspects aged between 16 and 42 are expected to appear in Athlone and Philippi Magistrates Courts next week facing charges of attempted murder, hijacking, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property and possession of ecstasy.

The members were commended for their efforts in ensuring safer communities and addressing crime generators in this province.
