In an effort to provide efficient and responsive policing in the Khayelitsha Cluster, weekend operations ending 30 July 2017 were conducted, which yielded good results and led to the arrest of 112 suspects. The suspects were charged for various crimes, ranging from murder, to possession of drugs and housebreaking and theft.

A suspect is expected to be charged soon for the murder of a 45 year old man from Site B, Khayelitsha. The victim was stabbed twice during an altercation with the suspect. It was reported on Saturday, 29 July 2017, just after 10:00 where after the suspect was arrested.

On 28 July 2017, just after 12:00, in Ngxama Street, Lingelethu-West, a suspect was arrested with the assistance of community members when he was found in the residence of the complainant. Upon noticing the unknown man in her residence the complainant screamed for assistance. The suspect fled the scene and was later apprehended and handed over to police. He faces a charge of burglary in a residential area.

Police members also executed a search warrant in Town Two in Khayelitsha and arrested one suspect.

On 28 July 2017, just after 22:00, members on patrol duties visited an address known for the selling of drugs. Upon entering the residence members confiscated 44 small bags of dagga valued at a substantial amount. The suspect was arrested and charged for dealing in dagga.

In other random operations within the Cluster, 39 people were arrested for being in possession of drugs such as Tik, Mandrax tablets and dagga.

A total of 23 people were arrested for being in possession of dangerous weapons. Furthermore, 11 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

All the arrested suspects will appear in the various courts in the Khayelitsha Cluster
