Randburg – One of the country’s best policemen, a good friend and a talented rugby player was taken away in a very bad way. This is how a longtime friend describes the death of André Fabby Fabricius after he was shot on February 17, 2015 in Johannesburg during a robbery.

Fabricius (50) was an officer with the rank of captain at the former murder and robbery unit in Pretoria.

Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale Gauteng police spokesperson, told Maroela Media, the family was attacked on Tuesday in the early hours of the morning in their home in Linden, Randburg.

“The homeowner heard a noise on the ground floor and went to investigate when he came across three armed men” said Mogale. “One of the suspects shot at him, fatally wounding him.”

Fabricius’s wife and son were tied up while the suspects ransacked the house.

Mogale said the suspects fled the scene with a laptop, tablet computer, and phones.

Fabricius leaves his wife Rista and son Dario (13) behind.

The police are investigating a case of murder.
