Universities South Africa (USAf), which consists of vice-chancellors, expressed concern about political leaders’ calls to students to only attend universities without any prior application or approval and indicated Jacob Zuma’s timing of free tertiary education as a show of politics.
According to USAf, such statements are regarded as dangerous for the university sector. Chaos can be expected as “students” arrive in masses at tertiary institutions.
Meanwhile, universities have announced that no “walk-in” registrations will be made for those who did not apply in advance.
