Two arrested for hijacking delivery truck

A man and a 17-year-old girl were arrested for allegedly hijacking a delivery truck in Nyanga, Cape Town, police said on Friday.

A group of hijackers stole the truck on Thursday morning, said Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut.

Police were called and, after a shootout, the truck was found abandoned in Bambanani Street with some furniture in and around it. Officers arrested a 26-year-old man from Crossroads and a 17-year-old girl who hesitated to open the door for them when they wanted to search her house on the same street.

Inside the house they found a fridge and other items believed to have been stolen. The pair would appear in court soon.
