An elderly woman from Bronkhorstspruit tied up for ten days sitting beside the body of her husband after he was shot by robbers.
The body of Louis du Toit (76), a pensioner, was found next to his wife in the garage.
“When the police found the woman yesterday, she was too traumatized to say anything. She was dehydrated and had gone ten days without eating, “said Const. Zanele Vilakazi, a police spokesman.
She said the police were called about 07:30 yesterday to a house in Roothstreet where they discovered the victims in the garage.
“Their hands and feet were tied. She said the couple was attacked ten days ago in their home.”
“The intruders searched the house and forced open the safe. It is unclear what was stolen.”
Du Toit’s rifle was also found at the scene. The cause of death was unknown.
The woman was taken to the Mamelodi Hospital, where she received counseling, among others.
Police are investigating a case of murder.
