Three stolen cars were found on Tuesday morning at the home of a police officer in Eldorado Park, Gauteng.

Lieutenant colonel Katlego Mogale, a police spokesman, said the vehicles (a Volkswagen Golf 6 and two Volkswagen Polos) were found at the officer’s house around 09:00.

“The officer was not at the house when members of the Gauteng flying squad striked”, said Mogale. “He will be charged with possession of suspected stolen property once he is arrested.”

The Flying Squad in collaboration with the Tracker tracking service, traced a car’s signal to the officer’s house in Alley Street.

Mogale said the Golf 6 is disassembled for its parts. The car was reported stolen last month in Dawnpark on the East Rand. There was also tampering with the two Polo’s chassis numbers.

The Police are investigating whether the officer ran a chop shop from home.
