Police rescue IEC officials from angry Bekkersdal mob
Chaos erupted outside one the four voting stations in Bekkersdal, west of Joburg, shortly after voting closed when an angry crowd in EFF clothing

Chaos erupted outside one the four voting stations in Bekkersdal, west of Johannesburg, shortly after voting closed when an angry crowd in EFF clothing accused IEC officials of smuggling in ballot papers they had marked.

The two officials had apparently left the tent that was used as the voting station to get fresh air before starting to count the votes. When they returned, they were stopped by an angry mob who refused them entry to the tent.

Some of the people in the crowd demanded to search the officials, saying they were carrying marked ballot papers, which they were going to add to the ballot boxes…
