Two suspects aged 39 and 52 are expected to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on 6 August 2018, for their alleged involvement in a cash in transit heist incident at The Glen Mall, South of Johannesburg last week.
The Johannesburg Hawks’ National Bureau of Illegal Firearms Control and Priority Violent Crimes (NBIFCPVC) and Crime Intelligence arrested two males on Friday and Saturday morning in Soweto and Limpopo respectively.
It is alleged an unknown number of suspects approached a security guard on Friday at the mall, pointed him with firearms and made off with cash canisters.
Within hours of the commission of the crime, commendable progress was made in a multidisciplinary intelligence driven operation which lead to the arrest of the first suspect in Protea Glen. The second suspect was apprehended in Marble Hall were members managed to confiscate the alleged stolen money and the vehicle which was used during the commission of the crime.
The National Head of the DPCI Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya has welcomed the success and directed that the investigations continue.
