Jayde Panayiotou (28) was found with a single bullet wound to the head outside Port Elizabeth in an abandoned area nearly opposite KwaNobuhle.

Panayiotou was kidnapped on Tuesday morning in front of her home in Deaconweg in Kabega Park, Port Elizabeth. She was kidnapped while waiting for her lift to Riebeek College Girls High School in Uitenhage.

A few minutes before 6:30 the time she usually got picked up in the morning, Panayiotou spoke on the cell phone with a teacher in their lift club. On arrival at her home, she was not there.

A member of the lift club phoned her husband Christopher. He said his wife went out a few minutes ago and that she probably was standing outside the house waiting. However Panayiotou’s phone was switched off.

Later, police found evidence that a man in the KwaNobuhle suburb outside Port Elizabeth drew (R1 700) from her account.

It was then that the police started looking for him and the missing teacher.

There was another attempt in Kwazakhele Later that morning to withdraw money from her account.

The police searched tirelessly late into the night for Panayiotou and on Wednesday there was still hope that she would be found alive.

At 10:00 that same hope was crushed. She was found murdered.
