The ANC government is so determined to distort South Africa’s history and raise the emotions about the land issue, where they should rather take note of the hard reality of farm attacks and murders and take effective steps to deal with it, says the leader of FF Plus, Dr. Pieter Groenewald.

Dr. Groenewald quoted the statistics of TAU SA, which shows that there were 42 attacks and six murders on farms this year. “Just this week, two elderly people were cruelly murdered”.

“On Monday 26 February 2018, a 72 year old, Hentie van der Vyver’s farm was invaded near Ermelo in Mpumalanga and she was strangled.”

“On Tuesday night 27 February 2018, the 68 year old Mr. Hannes Christie van Coligny in North West was killed with a sharp object, presumably an axe.”

“Last year there were 423 farm attacks in South Africa in which 82 people were killed. Many people were injured and raped in these attacks. It can be assumed that many farm workers are left unemployed after the attacks.

“As for last year’s figures, the 423 attacks worked out at 35.25 a month. More than one every day of the year. Every 4.3 days someone was killed on a farm.

“Twenty years ago, there were 70 000 commercial farmers in South Africa. There are now about 30 000 left.

“The FF Plus will, with Cyril Ramaphosa as head of the government, put renewed pressure on government to declare farm attacks as a priority crime and actively make plans to deal with it.

“If nothing is done, it will serve as proof that Ramaphosa only makes empty promises and is not serious about fighingt crime, “said Dr. Groenewald.
