Suspect released after SAPS fail to respond
Criminal arrested in Isipingo.

A suspect who was caught in the act of breaking into a vehicle on Alexander Avenue in Isipingo Rail had to be released after members of SAPS failed to respond to the scene.

The Alpha Alarms control centre received a call from a client stating that there was a suspect tampering with his vehicle on his property.

The Alpha armed officer responded to the premises within two minutes and spotted the suspect.

The suspect jumped over a wall and fled upon the arrival of the Alpha member.

Following a foot-chase the Alpha member nabbed the suspect who is alleged to have been armed with a knife. The suspect resisted arrest and had to be subdued.

An off-duty police officer who resides nearby offered his assistance by guarding the suspect while the Alpha officer contacted the SAPS.

Despite concerted efforts to the SAPS for a vehicle to respond to the scene, the homeowner asked for the suspect to be released as he spent more than an hour waiting for the police officers.

The homeowner and nearby residents praised the Alpha officer for his speedy response and said they are fed up with criminals who have residents under siege.
