Eskom was forced to use its diesel powered generators during the strike by of thousands of its workers. The cost involved in diesel used was R102 million.

Although it has not been clear how many liters of diesel fuel was consumed, it is estimated that it would have been about 7.2 million liters.

Meanwhile, power interruptions are still possible until 27 June even although it has been announced that the chances have diminished.
