The strike at the SABC has already resulted in specific services being delivered.
On the Afrikaans radio service, RSG, traffic reports could not be broadcast anymore because the morning news program had to cope with fewer people due to the strike.
SABC staff’s trade unions threatened that there would be no coverage of the ANC’s policy conference from the weekend.
The staff is claiming a 10% increase, but the SABC is only willing to allow a 4,5% increase while management enriches themselves with huge bonuses or golden handshakes if they get fired due to mismanagement.
