Morningside Manor, Sandton, South Africa – Bramley police spokesperson Warrant officer Moses Maphakela confirmed that 73-year-old Yvonne Ferreria was gagged, suffocated and tied up in her house by two suspects and left in her bed for three days.
Maphakela said the incident took place in Morningside Manor on 30 July. One male suspect approached the woman while she was in her study and demanded her cell phone. Another suspect then joined and they proceeded to tie the woman up. He said the woman is not injured but visibly traumatised.
The woman was found by her gardener at 7am on 1 August.
Maphakela said the woman sustained bruises on her mouth after the two suspects tied her stockings around her head.
Paramedics treated her at her home.
Maphakela said the woman lives alone and her children live overseas.
