SOUTH AFRICA – The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a weather advisory warning of an approaching cold front expected to move south of the country later this week. According to the latest SAWS forecast, a surface high-pressure system will dominate the central and eastern regions, bringing predominantly cold-to-cool conditions alongside a low probability of isolated showers.
Beginning Thursday, isolated rain or showers are expected over the southern parts of Gauteng, though the probability remains very low. Similar isolated showers are forecast along the eastern and southern coastal areas from Thursday through Saturday. Outside of these specific areas, the weather service indicates that fine and cold-to-cool conditions will prevail for the remainder of the week.
The weekly outlook begins with Monday’s forecast, which indicates fine and cold-to-cool conditions across most parts of the country. Coastal areas will experience partly cloudy skies, with isolated showers possible along the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal and the adjacent interior regions.
By Tuesday, fine conditions are expected to settle over the south-western parts of the country. Elsewhere, skies will be partly cloudy with warm-to-cool temperatures, and isolated showers or thundershowers will be possible from the afternoon onward.
In light of the changing weather patterns, the South African Weather Service strongly urges members of the public and relevant stakeholders to continuously monitor official SAWS forecasts and warnings. The agency noted that these alerts will be updated as the likelihood and severity of weather impacts become clearer.
Furthermore, SAWS cautioned the public to remain vigilant against unauthorized or unverified information sources. The agency advised citizens to refrain from distributing unconfirmed weather reports to prevent the spread of misinformation during potentially severe weather events.
