It appears from figures released by Statistics SA that Central Transvaal, Free State, Natal and the Eastern Transvaal all show an increase in crime while there is a 5% increase in crime country wide. ie 1.5 million incidents a year.
Western Transvaal, however, shows a dramatic increase of almost 80% in individual crimes. Murder increased by 4% with 17 000 murders for the 2017 period, which means almost 47 murders a day in that region.
