After returning from their honeymoon in Phuket on 4th of October, airport authorities of Abu Dhabi International found small caliber rounds in Monique’s wallet. Francois and Monique accidentally carried the round through all airports from O.R. Tambo International airport to Abu Dhabi to Thailand and back from Thailand to Abu Dhabi .These rounds were forgotten in the wallet when they were on his grandparents’ farm practicing some target shooting.
Authorities took him in for questioning later that afternoon and to avoid a scene told Monique they will ask him to give a statement and return him after a couple of hours.
Eventually after him not returning she became anxious and called home and found out that he was removed to Khalifa police station about 10km away from the airport. After a lot of unsuccessful queries to his welfare and whereabouts by Monique and ourselves we told Monique to get on the next available flight out of there. With the help of her father and Flight centre she managed to re-book a flight.
Francois is still in the UAE and awaits charges and investigations. We have contacted Attorneys in UAE and got quotes hence this mail the amount varies from R65k to R200K.
We as parents and family don’t have this kind of money so we are appealing to all reading this to please contribute towards freeing Francois in any way possible.
