The international publication, The Economist described South Africa’s education system as the worst in the world following the release of the matric results last week.
On Friday, The London publication reported on its online platform that according to a report compiled by the United Nations Organization for Economic Cooperation, South Africa ranked 75 out of 76 countries in 2015.
The organization also reported that a study conducted in November last year found South Africa at the bottom of the international mathematics and science standards, and this remains concerning, although the country performed better than in the 2011 year.
In order to determine the results, the tests involved 580 000 students in 57 countries. The results from South Africa were worse than other poorer countries in Africa.
