Cape Town – The wife of a visiting Slovakian diplomat was stabbed during a robbery in Hout Bay earlier this week was confirmed by Eyewitness News.

The Slovakian diplomat, his wife and a Hungarian diplomat were apparently walking along Hout Bay beach when they were accosted by an unknown man on Wednesday.

No arrests have yet been made.

An official from the Hungarian consulate has confirmed the assailant grabbed the woman’s handbag, she resisted and she was stabbed in the process.

It’s understood her wounds were not serious.

The police’s Thembinkosi Kinana says, “After the chase, the suspect dropped the handbag and disappeared into the bushes, however, some of the items were not recovered.”

The suspect fled with her purse, keys and her diplomatic identity document.
