Secret Ballot for the motion of no confidence

Die Vryburger

The motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma will be by secret ballot.

The announcement was made by the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete, during a media conference.

Observers say, however, it will have to be seen which of the ANC is willing to go against party directives to unseat Zuma.

There is the possibility that intimidation can still occur with the veiled warning “we will find your voice.”

Dr. Pieter Groenewald, the leader of the FF Plus, said South Africans must realize that the secret ballot does not necessarily mean the end of the current presidency. “This decision is an indication that the ANC is convinced that it has control over its members and is not afraid of a secret ballot.”
