The SA Revenue Service (SARS) announced on Thursday, 5 July 2018, changes in top posts, and two of Tom Moyane loyal lieutenants, Tebogo Mokoena and Luther Lebolo, were removed from key posts.
Mokoena is replaced with Beyers Theron, who takes over as acting head of customs and excise, precisely the division where tobacco companies allegedly “avoided” millions in VAT.
