One of the reasons for the country’s recession is the so called semi state entities such as Eskom, Telkom, Sasol, Denel, Transnet and others, all of which are in serious financial crisis.

The SABC announced a R622 million loss for the year ending 31 March 2018. According to the SABC, it is an improvement on last year’s R1 billion loss.

The broadcaster is technically bankrupt and can not pay its debts. Endemic levels of corruption and maladministration will be addressed, according to the new foreman Bongumusa Makhatini.

Meanwhile, treasury has appropriated R1.7 billion security with which the SABC can borrow from banks to propagate its propagandist pro government broadcasting machine.
