Rumors of war

Opinion by Front National SA

Kgalema Motlanthe made a huge mistake in referring to traditional leaders as “village dictators.” You don’t attack the dignity of a traditional leader and you don’t steal his property. Everyone knows that.

Ramaphosa’s plan to expropriate land without compensation from the traditional leaders will undoubtedly lead to conflict. And King Goodwill Zwelithini said so in as many words on Friday:

“We are shocked that there are those who are saying the ANC must distance itself from us. They are saying we must stop this good working relationship. They say the government must take our land. They are provoking us. On that matter, I’m saying they must stop it because no one will gain should a war break out. We don’t want that, because we know that when there is a war, people from all sides are killed. We don’t want a war because our grandfathers have been there. As we sit here, we are the products of that fearless generation. We are therefore saying please pray for those of us who are at the forefront,” the Zulu king said.

Just as we are prepared to defend our property, so we recognise the intention of the King to do so.

The ANC will be well advised not to ignore the rumours of war. It will tear the country apart and leave nothing but misery and hardship and unimaginable suffering for all.
