Robbery suspect falls to his death

On Friday April 15, 2016 at approximately 02:00 Marshall Security received a call for assistance from another security company for a site based guard in Riverhorse valley, KwaZulu-Natal under attack from armed suspects. Marshall Security immediately dispatched armed response units to assist and upon their arrival it was discovered that a male security guard had sustained lacerations to his head following an assault by armed suspects who had attempted to force entry into the premises.

An extensive search of the property was conducted however the suspects could not be located. It is believed that they fled in the direction of the Highway. The injured guard was treated by Netcare911 Paramedics and the scene handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS for investigation.

Later at approximately 03:00, whist patrolling on the N2 highway in search of the suspects, the reaction officers noticed members of Enforce Security’s armed response unit pursing a suspect attempting to flee on foot and gave assistance.

Realising the officers were gaining on him and the reality of his probable arrest, the suspect decided to jump off a bridge to a dense bush area below.

A call for the assistance of the South African Police dog unit was made to assist in locating the suspect. After an extensive search the suspect was located having suffered fatal injuries.

The scene was then handed over to the South African Police for investigation.
