About 100 people were protesting on the R43 near Delmas and barricaded the road on Saturday morning, Mpumalanga police said.
“The [police] were deployed and the roads have been cleared,” Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said.
“For now it has not been discovered why they were protesting. It was just found early in the morning that the road was barricaded with stones.”
He said as soon as police arrived on the scene the protesters dispersed.
The area was now quiet and the road had been cleared.
