Riah Pyega gets millions to do nothing

Die Vryburger

It cost the taxpayers R11,5 million rand to keep two suspended police members at home without doing their job.

The recently fired commissioner Riah Phiyega, and the head of crime intelligence, Richard Mdluli, received this amount collectively.

However, the icing on top of the cake was that Mdluli also received a “service bonus” of R413 957.

Police minister, Fikile Mbalula, came up with a bag of potatoes after being questioned in parliament about the claims.

Phiyega’s contract has lapsed, but apparently, Mdluli is still facing disciplinary proceedings, and he has been suspended from 2011 while staying at home receiving a salary, and the state is still paying his pension fund contributions.
