R61 mill fraud and collusion: 20 senior police officers implicated

A forensic investigation regarding the award of a R61 million contract to Keith Keating for the provision of forensic material showed that at least 20 senior police officers could be involved in the awarding of the tender.

The former acting commissioner of police, Khomotso Phahalne, brigadier Sydney Masuku, Lieutenant General Avhashoni Ramilksi, Colonel J Potgieter, Lieutenant General S Schutte, Lieutenant General. Lungiswa Swezi, Col. T Magubane, Lieutenant col. A Patrick, Brigadier N Pillay, Major General. E Mavundla, Brig. J Ramathoka, Lieutenant Col. C Goosen, Lieutenant Col. M Basic and captain I van Huyssteen are pointed out in the report for their involvement in potential fraud and collusion that led to the unlawful transaction in May 2016.

The police service has been under suspicion for years of possible fraud, corruption and many other offenses, and the latest case indicates that from senior’s police officers down to the lowest rankings can not be trusted.

The attempts to reinstate former police officers also has proved to be a failure, and the general feeling is that the admission of old MK members could mean an even greater danger to whites.
