POLITICAL ATTACKS – DANGEROUS GROUND
There have been at least 19 physical attacks on politicians ahead of the local government Elections to be held in August 2016.

The The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has condemned the violence.
There are also multiple reports of dishonest, illegal electioneering and campaigning happening ahead of the elections.
CICA believes that if this type of uncivilized and barbaric electioneering and power struggling continues that South Africa is being slowly but surely pushed toward failed state, a possible civil war, or police state type environment.
The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) have voiced their concern over the recent spat of political killings recently.
It is a serious situation, a crime warning for the country and potential civil unrest. Coupled with the continuous protests happening everyday around South Africa, the political killings are sparking a wave of concern. The total media blackout instigated by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) refuses to stop the censorship and this can contribute to the volatile situation.
