A manhunt is underway for a gang of robbers who wounded a police officer before commandeering a police van and driving away with another officer inside.
The North West police officers – a man and woman – were responding to a business robbery at the Setlagole village on Sunday when the robbers shot at them, wounding the male officer in the stomach, Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.
“They then drove away with the police vehicle with the female officer inside,” said Mokgwabone.
The robbers took her firearm and dumped her and the vehicle 2km from the scene and fled.
The female officer sustained injuries to her hand during the incident. Both she and her colleague were in a stable condition in hospital.
