Nursing school set alight in Limpopo protest

Nursing school set alight in Limpopo protest

The mobile rooms of a nursing school at St Ritas hospital in Nebo were set alight in a protest, Limpopo police said on Thursday.

“At least no one was inside by that time,” said Colonel Ronel Otto.

The police had to intervene when members of the community were busy assaulting a suspected criminal.

A truck belonging to a private company was also set alight, said Otto.

“They became angry and started blocking the roads with bricks and a big Cell C container. Members of the community at Glen Cowie burnt mobile rooms of a nursing school at St Ritas hospital.

“They are complaining that only people from Polokwane are in that school while the youth around the school are suffering.”

No arrests were made and no one was injured.
