Senior Western Cape detectives believe there is not enough evidence to prosecute anyone for the De Zalze Golf Estate family murders.

As reported by the Afrikaans newspaper, Rapport, detectives would suggest on August 4, 2015, when the file is revised, that the matter should be referred for a judicial inquiry.

In an inquest a magistrate would be looking at the case and decide whether anyone can be prosecuted for the murder of Martin, Teresa and Rudi van Breda, or not.

Only Marli and Henri survived the axe assault in the De Zalze estate in Stellenbosch with serious head injuries and minor injuries respectively.

The investigation is now ongoing for six months and police sources confirmed to Rapport all outstanding test results have been obtained, but there is still no arrest or a suspect.
