A 47-year-old woman has been sentenced to two decades in prison by the Carnarvon Regional Court for the murder of her partner during a domestic dispute last year.
Magda van der Westhuizen appeared in court on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, where she was handed a sentence of twenty years direct imprisonment for the killing of 37-year-old Ricardo de Klerk.
The incident occurred on 31 August 2024 in Carnarvon following a domestic altercation between the accused and the victim. During the dispute, Van der Westhuizen fatally stabbed De Klerk. Emergency services arrived at the scene, but De Klerk was declared dead on arrival.
