The Grobelershoop police in the Northern Cape are investigating a case of murder after the body of a woman (65) was found on her smallholding on Tuesday 27 February 2018.

Captain Jaques September, a police spokesperson, said the body was found in her home at about 14:00 on Tuesday.

September could not confirm who found the body or who summoned the police.

“The woman was home alone and it is speculated that she had been assaulted and strangled” he said. The womans bank cards and cell phone were apparently also stolen.

September said at this stage no one has been arrested in connection with the incident but confirmed the police are investigating the matter.

Anyone with any information is requested to contact Sergeant Willem Titus, the investigating officer on 054 833 9320.
