A joint police operation by the Calvinia Stock Theft Unit and Calvinia SAPS Task Team led to the arrest of three stock thieves.
The three suspects aged 30, 34 and 39 were found in possession of sheep carcasses in Calvinia. The value is estimated at about R8000. The suspects were intercepted along the R355 road while transporting the sheep carcasses in their Ford Ranger bakkie.
The bakkie has been confiscated as it was used in the commission of crime. The sheep were reportedly stolen at Vlakkraal farm in the Calvinia district.
The suspects will appear before the Calvinia Magistrate’s court soon.
