Violent rape and robbery, man sentenced to 33 years, Danielskuil

Immanuel George (39) was sentenced on 29 October 2019, to 23 years imprisonment for rape and 10 years for robbery in the Danielskuil Regional Court.

On 13 December 2014, at about 21:00 the accused accosted the 19 year old female and dragged her into the veld in Thlakaltlou, Danielskuil. He threatened her with stones, raped and robbed her of her cell phone. Due to hard work and meticulous investigations the accused was arrested on 19 October 2016, and remained in custody up until his sentencing.

“The Acting Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection in the Northern Cape, Brigadier Nicky Mills commended Detective Warrant Officer Deborah Bob, of the Postmasburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for the sterling investigation in this case.

The great support the SAPS also received from the community is highly commendable and surely assisted with this good sentencing, said Brigadier Mills.
