Vigilant SAPS members at Vioolsdrift Border post arrests male for possession of suspected stolen vehicle

The alertness and vigilance of members at the Vioolsdrift Border post on 20 February 2024, resulted in the apprehension of a male person and the confiscation of a suspected stolen vehicle and unprocessed gold.

During routine duties at the Vioolsdrift border post between RSA and Namibia in the Namakwa District on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 at 07:20, police members searched and screened a Ford Ranger double cab bakkie leaving RSA and enroute to Namibia.

Upon screening the vehicle the police discovered that the driver presented fraudulent documents and after searching the bakkie, they found unprocessed gold with an estimated value of R9 500-00. The confiscated vehicle is valued at R1, 1 million.

The 42-year-old male driver was charged with possession of suspected stolen vehicle and fraud. An enquiry has been registered in relation of the unprocessed gold. The suspect will soon appear in the Springbok Magistrates Court.
