Victoria West man gets 25 years for housebreaking, robbery and rape

The sentencing of Paul Pieterse aged 21 of Victoria West has been welcomed by police Management in the Northern Cape.

It was on 19 December 2018 when the accused broke into a shack at Goutrou, Victoria West. The accused, wielding a knife, found the victim and her boyfriend in bed. He demanded money and later raped the victim in the presence of her boyfriend. The accused fled and was traced and arrested the following day.

The accused was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by the local Magistrates court. The sentence was handed down as follows:

12 years for rape
10 years for robbery
3 years for housebreaking

The Cluster Commander of Pixley ka Seme, Brigadier Adonis applauded the meticulous investigation conducted by Detective Constable Mojalefa Ignatius Mokitimi for making sure that the accused is removed from society.

She also applauded Detective Constable Elack Pietersen who investigated the case in its initial stage.
