On Thursday, 31 December 2020, while members of Upington crime office performed night duties, Constables Wally Crause and Eugene Dlephu conducted patrol duties, when they noticed a vehicle after curfew time at about 00:50 midnight. The officers pulled off the vehicle which had 3 male occupants age 25, 30 and 33.

They searched the vehicle as well as the boot where they found a big travelling bag that was packed with dagga inside. The dagga was wrapped in black plastic bags and cello tape, it weighed 14.996 kg with an estimated street value of R10 5000.

All three suspects were arrested for possession of dagga and for contravention of the Regulation in terms of the Disaster Management Act. They will appear soon before the Magistrates’ Court of Upington.

The Acting Station Commander of Upington SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Martin Christiaan applauded the members for such vigilance that led to a great success and disrupting criminal proceedings with their mission.
