Two men have appeared in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court after they were allegedly caught with dagga worth almost R250,000, Northern Cape police said.

Police officers from the Springbok crime prevention, K9, and physical employment status (PES) units recently followed up on information about a car driving from Cape Town to Springbok with an undisclosed load of drugs, Lt-Col Dimakatso Mooi said.

The units managed to stop the suspects’ car after a chase on the N7 near Springbok. The car was searched and dagga weighing 48.84kg with an estimated street value of R244,200 was confiscated together with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The two arrested men, aged 50 and 40, were charged with dealing in drugs. They were remanded in custody until November 26 for a formal bail application, Mooi said.
