On Friday, 10 January 2020, the Mothibistad Regional Court sentenced a 50 year old Anthony Tinkie Schalk to ten years imprisonment for rape.

According to the report, in June 2019, during the night, the 36 year old victim together with Anthony were on their way home from a shebeen.

Along the way, the accused forced the victim to his shack, where he strangled her and threatened her with a knife and then raped her.

After the incident was reported to the police the suspect was arrested.

Furthermore, the accused was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The (FCS) Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Commander, Captain Caren Nel applauded and praised the investigating officer, Sergeant Tebogo Phillip Nowalaza for his sterling investigation.

The Cluster Commander of John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG), Major General Johan Bean complimented the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Department of Justice who worked closely with Sergeant Nowalaza to ensure that justice was served.
