The police at Witdraai in the ZF Mgcawu Cluster apprehended a male suspect on 6 April 2019, in connection with possession of dagga. The police acted on information received about a man travelling in a taxi from the Eastern Cape who is in possession of dagga.

A Vehicle checkpoint was set up along the R360 road between Askham and Andriesvale at about 00:30.

Constables Witbooi, Basson, Afrikaner and Vries who conducted the vehicle checkpoint stopped the taxi fitting the description circulated. The suspect was found in possession of dagga weighing 7, 50 kilograms with an estimated street value of R37 000.

The dagga was destined for Andriesvale settlement.

The Acting Cluster Commander of ZF Mcgawu, Brigadier Besnaar applauded the members who reacted swiftly, leading to the arrest of the drug dealer. The suspect is expected to appear before the local Magistrates court on Monday facing a charge of dealing in dagga.
