The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team has served a 47-year old suspect with a summons on Wednesday, 20 January 2022, for contravention of the Tax administration Act 28 of 2011.
It is alleged that between 2014 and 2018, the suspect who is a sole director of a Close Corporation entity (juristic person), failed to register the said business for VAT within 21 business days after the end of the first month of operation, where the total value of taxable income supplies exceeded the R1 Million threshold.
He is expected to appear before the Kimberly Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 February 2022.
