Task team confiscate 1425 litres of stolen diesel, Mothibistad

On Thursday, 30 May 2019 in the afternoon, the Northern Cape Provincial Trio Crime Task Team, confiscated 1425 litres of suspected stolen diesel in Mapoteng near Mothibistad. A 36-year-old suspect was arrested at his residence subsequent to be found in possession of suspected stolen fuel.

The Trio Crime Task Team acted upon intelligence information and found fuel stored in a storeroom at the suspect’s residence, while some of the containers filled with fuel were found loaded in the bakkie loading bin.

The bakkie was also confiscated as it was instrumental in the commission of crime.The suspect will appear before Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court soon, on a count of possession of suspected stolen fuel.

The Cluster Commander of the John Taolo Gaetsewe, Major General Johan Bean applauded the Team for arresting the suspect. The arrest will serve as a warning to those who are stealing fuel, either from their employers or from the companies they are working for.
