A wanted suspect, Tony Thobela (52) who was also on the National wanted list was apprehended on 30 July 2021 in Masakeng in Jan Kempdorp after information was followed up by Jan Kempdorp and Warrenton detectives and Hartswater Crime Intelligence.

Thobela was positively linked to 10 cases which were reported in Jan Kempdorp, Warrenton, Delportshoop and Barkley-West which included housebreaking and theft, theft of copper cables, theft and possession of suspected stolen property.

Numerous electrical appliances including TV’s, fridges, laptops, musical instruments, gas cylinders, microwaves, sound systems camping gear and tools were recovered at a house in Masakeng in Valspan in Jan Kempdorp.

The estimated value of the recovered items amounted to R140 000-00.

The suspect appeared on 2 August 2021 in the Jan Kempdorp Magistrates court and his case was remanded to 11 August 2021 for a formal bail application.

Thobela will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
