The Management of the South African Police Service in the ZF Mgcawu District welcomed the sentence that was handed down to Ryno Davids (31) for the murder of Max Lottering (66).
On 20 March 2021, the deceased was sitting together with the accused at a residence in Straussburg where an argument arose. The accused stood up and allegedly stabbed the deceased with a knife in his neck. The deceased was transported to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Davids was convicted for murder and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in the Upington Regional Court.
The District Commissioner, Major General Thabo Mphuthi applauded the investigating officer, Sergeant Vanessa Van Der Westhuisen for the excellent investigation that secured the conviction.
