The alertness and vigilance displayed by three Kimberley Crime Prevention Unit members, Sergeant Moremi, Sergeant Seboco and Constable Mabeleng lead to the swift apprehension of four males and the confiscation of a suspected stolen vehicle and recovery of a suspected stolen firearm and ammunition.

The members were busy executing crime prevention patrols at approximately 09:10 in Green Street, West End in Kimberley on Saturday, 26 January 2019 when they observed a suspicious silver Toyota Corolla with Lesotho number plates. The members instructed the driver to pull over and searched the vehicle.

They discovered a .38 Special revolver with the serial number filed off as well as 9 live rounds of ammunition, gloves and a knife inside the vehicle.

They will soon be appearing in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court.

The station commander of Kimberley SAPS, Brigadier Charlotte Makgari commended the members for their attentiveness and alertness while performing their duties. Police investigations are continuing.
