A 27 year old police Constable was arrested on 16 February 2019, in connection with the case of stock theft. The member was found in possession of six bags containing carcasses of sheep. His co accused aged 44 was also arrested.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Risimati Shivuri condemned the involvement of the member in criminal activities. He said such rotten potatoes need to be exposed and decisively dealt with in accordance with the full might of the law.

The Provincial Commissioner further pointed out that it is such elements in the police who damage the image of the majority of police members in the Northern Cape who are dedicated to serving the community with diligence.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Upington Magistrates court tomorrow.
